29 Sportsman’s Warehouse stores across the U.S. have been slated for closure.
NAMPA — It’s another sign of the times and a bad economy.
Sportsman’s Warehouse in Nampa says it will be lying off all its employees and closing its doors.
Sportsman’s Warehouse will not completely leave the area as the Meridian store will stay open.
The Nampa store will close within the next 60 days.
The announcement was made today and the city of Nampa notified.
All 56 employees were told the store would be closing between May 11 and May 24.
The Nampa store has only been open a year and is part of the city’s newly developed Treasure Valley Marketplace.
For now it appears to be the only store closing in the complex.
“The uncertainty of the economy is telling people, hey I had better save and not spend. It’s really difficult to know what to say to these people that are losing their jobs,” said Nampa Mayor Tom Dale.
Dale stepped out of budget meetings today to talk with us about the closure. He says city leaders are working on cutting back and hoping to avoid layoffs.
